CAMIPATA progress

1)   Two PhD students enrolled at KCMUCo with the titles:

a.    EXPLORING LOCAL PERCEPTIONS OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND ITS IMPACT AMONG PREGNANT WOMEN AND COMMUNITIES IN THE TANGA REGION. PhD student Victor William Katiti

b.    DETERMINANTS OF MATERNAL DIETARY DIVERISTY AND QUALITY, AND THE EFFECT OF DIET AND MALARIA IN PREGNANCY ON MATERNAL AND NEWBORN HEALTH. PhD student Isabella Swai Silvester

2)   Cohort update by 3rd of January 2025: 441 enrolled in third trimester pregnancy (~75%), 105 deliveries, 51 postnatal visits = completed follow-up

3)   Focus Group Discussions (non-pregnant women, pregnant, men, and elderly) ongoing in four villages – 80% completed (26th of January 2025) 

4)   Weather stations established in September 2024

Almost reaching enrolment goal of 600 pregnant women for follow-up

The Joint Malaria Programme has three offices in Tanzania in Dar-es-Salaam, at KCMC Moshi and NIMR Tanga
